What is Grass Jelly or Black Gulaman?

If there is one thing that people would need to be aware of is that Black Gulaman is a drink consumed to help ease the body temperature of people who are always on the go. While there are normal values to which body temperature must be kept, consuming one bottle of Black Gulaman is sure to hit the spot and adhere to the rising demands that a body is exposed to daily.
Black Gulaman is commonly known as the oriental Chinese desert or drink that people would usually partner with their favorite dish from different cuisines. This flexibility has made it a preferred beverage-desert in restaurants where it is readily available.
Among the significant attributes of Black Gulaman is its main composition of grass jelly and the identifiable iodine flavor like taste. As its name connotes, it is a black jelly made from boiling grasses or leaves in the mint family along with potassium carbonate which when cooled down produces the jelly-like substance people see before consuming. The said grass jelly is then mixed with various substances such as honey, soy milk or syrup to produce the cooling properties that the human body would need. This cooling property is also known as Yin.
The beauty of grass jelly is its flexibility to be mixed with other concoctions such as being paired with fruits, ice kachang and chendol. In some continents like the Southeast Asia regions and Oakland, grass jelly is mixed with soy milk to produce a milky white liquid with white strands which people would call as Michael Jackson.
In summary, the concept of placing it into bottles as a ready to drink beverage was born. People would need to prepare it by purchasing the black jelly separate from the actual iodine tasting liquid to enjoy the oriental drink. Such was the concept brought about by the Chin Chin Black Gulaman Grass Jelly Drink which has allowed people to simply look for additives in the form of milk and fruits to enjoy Black Gulaman in the way that is should be.
Chin Chin Black Gulaman is exclusively distributed by Merlion International Sales Inc., Philippines and is available at all 7-11 Convenience Stores and Robinsons Supermarkets Nationwide.

Really interesting, I'd never heard of it.
The green colour alone looks refreshing and cooling and the thought of biting into such a jelly when overheated sounds great.

Thanks. Yes it was really catered more on the Asian market but it is now being slowly distributed in the US and Canada by our counterparts there. The jelly is the twist, chewing something edible while drinking something refreshing.
Regards!
