The Calm Before Super Typhoon “Reming” aka “Durian”
November 30th 2006 15:00
Storm signals have been raised, the high rise billboards have been taken down, classes called-off and the close monitoring for one of the strongest typhoons seen to hit the Philippines is on.
Dubbed as the third super typhoon to hit the country this year, “Reming” is being billed to provide further damage to most parts of the Philippines, worse than that caused by Typhoon “Xangsane” last September 29, 2006. As a recap, Xangsane or Milenyo, as it is more familiarly known, rendered a mass trail of destruction, going as far as rendering a Luzon wide brownout. Uprooted trees, fallen billboard structures and killing a number of inhabitants are only a gist of the list of destructive memories that Milenyo left.
Expected to hit the country tomorrow, December 1, 2006, all citizens have been advised to stay in-doors as this tropical depression is expected to be stronger and more destructive than Milenyo. The preparations have already been made by the disaster management teams of the country, but to this point, no one know the probable path that this super typhoon will leave. All the people can do at this point is to wait and see.
