Help: Creating Categories

Hey guys and gals I just need your help very badly. It's kinda simple, call me stupid if you like, but I really like to solicit your help on how to manage my categories.
I already created different Post categories - Strategy, Technology, etc. but every time I create a new post I cannot seem to use these Post categories i created. I followed the post called Creating and using categories but did not work.
Hope you can help me out.
